ESTHER WAINWRIGHT BENNION'S PATRIARCHAL BLESSINGS
Great Salt Lake City Feb. 28th 1848
A blessing by John Smith Patriarch upon the head of Esther Bennion Daughter of Edward and Mary Wainwright, born Parish of Hawarden, County of Flint, North Wales, October 12, 1817.
Sister Esther, beloved of the Lord, I place my hands upon thy head by the authority of my office and seal upon thy fathers blessing, in the name of Jesus Christ, for the Lord is pleased with the integrity of thy heart, and thy name is written in the Lambs book of life. Thou art of same blood and lineage of thy companion and appointed in company with him and thy friend to redeem thy fathers house and to assist thy companion to redeem his back to the days of Noah, or to where they held the priesthood, that there shall not a link broken from the days of righteous Abel, until all things may be fulfilled which the prophets have spoken concerning Zion. All the blessing that is sealed upon thy companion is sealed upon thee in company with him. Thou shalt be a mother in Israel. As such thy name shall be known through all the generations of thy posterity, for no good thing shall be withheld. This is thy blessing to be obtained by faithfulness, even so, Amen.

PATRIARCHAL BLESSING given at English Fort, Dec. 10, 1856, by John Young upon the head of Esther Wainwright Bennion, born Oct. 12, 1817, at Hawarden, Flint County, North Wales, daughter of Edward and Mary Wainwright.
Sister Esther in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by virtue of the holy priesthood of our dear Redeemer I lay my hands upon your head to bless you and to seal upon you the blessings of the everlasting gospel for you are a daughter of Abraham through Ephriaim in connection with your husband. Thou hast embraced the gospel of salvation, forsaken all for the gospel's sake; thou art a mother in Israel and thy posterity shall be numerous and they shall rise and call thee blessed. Inasmuch as it is thy desire to help to build up the kingdom set up by His servant Joseph, thou art entitled to the blessings of the heavens and of the earth, thy mind shall expand and thou shalt be strengthened, and thy faith shall increase, the visions of the heavens shall be opened unto you, and with your husband hold a portion of the Pristhood for thou art an helpmeet unto him; thou shalt have power to control evil spirits; all things thou shalt put thy hands to shall prosper. The Lord will bless thee in all things therefore I say be faithful in obeying the counsel of your husband and thousands shall call you blessed. If you desire it you can live to a good old age upon the earth, be a comfort to your children and shall rear them up in the nurture of the Lord. Thou shalt have power over the destroyer, and disease shall not have power over you, but you shall do good in your day and generation for your desire is to do good to your progenitors, and notwithstanding that you may think you live retired, yet your works of righteousness shall be made manifest in the Lord's own due time. Therefore be faithful and often be found pouring out your soul unto the Lord and the blessings of the heavens shall be upon you, and all the blessings that your heart desires shall be with you and you shall have eternal lives in the kingdome celestial, and you shall be numbered with that innumerable company which John saw, and you shall have power to overcome and your feet shall stand in sure places. I seal all these blessings upon you in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Ghost, even so. Amen.
